Fire Pump unit is an assembled unit consisting of a Fire Pump, driver, controller, and accessories to provide water flow and pressure to systems dedicated for Fire protection. Installation of Fire pump system requires expert and experienced professionals. Our engineering and technical team are well organised and experienced in the selection, installation and commissioning of Fire Pump system as per NFPA We are regularly involved in the following types of electric and diesel motor driven fire pump assembly installations:.

Automatic sprinkler heads are individually heat activated and fixed into a piping network with water under pressure. When the heat of a fire raises the sprinkler temperature to its operating point, a variety of temperature ratings, from 57 to degrees a liquid- filled glass bulb will shatter or a solder link will melt to open that single sprinkler, allowing water to discharge.

The water is directed onto a diffuser or deflector which is designed to not only break the water into droplets of a specific size, but also to direct the spray to cover a specific floor and wall area. Wet riser systems are pressurized with water having a permanent water supply from fire water pumps and fire water storage tanks. The wet riser system comprises of one or multiple vertical riser pipes or horizontal runs of piping that feed the Landing Valve connections. These risers are connected to fire pumps and fire water storage tanks located within the buildings.

A 25mm diameter for Hose Reel System OR 40 mm diameter for Hose Rack system AND, 65 mm diameter for the landing Valve tapping will be made from the wet riser in each floor level and fitted with multipurpose hoses and nozzles that are placed inside a cabinet, known as Class III hose systems, for the use of the Civil Defence department personnel or other trained fire fighting personnel.

In addition four way breeching inlets located at a ground level are connected to the bottom of the wet riser to pump water from the Civil Defence fire truck as supplementary water supply.

Dry riser systems are normally dry without a permanent fire pump or water connection to it and depend on the Civil Defence fire truck to pump water into the system. Dry riser system comprises of one or multiple vertical riser pipes or horizontal runs of piping that are terminated to the two way breeching inlets located at ground level and connected to the 65mm diameter landing Fire Department valve outlets coupled or uncoupled with 65mm diameter, 30 m long, Civil Defence approved hose with multipurpose hose nozzle that are placed inside a cabinet for the use of Civil Defence Department personnel or other trained firefighting personnel.

Apart from the Automatic Sprinkler System and wet riser system, special fire protections systems are installing in specific hazards as per Civil Defence regulations. Portable Fire Extinguishers are the best available first response to tackle the fire at its incipient stage.

We provide the design, installation and commissioning of Emergency and Exit light system including Central Battery System and Central Monitored system. Emergency and exit light system play vital role during an incident of fire, it helps in illumination for exit routes during power failure to enable people finding exits swiftly and easily. Also helps fire fighters to locate firefighting equipment, to find trapped persons and to maneuver through building easily during emergencies and power failures.

Fire hydrants are actually pretty simple in the way they work. Each fire hydrant is connected to a large underground pipe that carries water. To get water out of the hydrant, firefighters use a five-sided wrench to open up one or more of the covers and connect hoses to the openings, which are like the spigots on your faucets at home.

Then, they use the same wrench to turn the 'stem nut', which is like your faucet's cold or hot water knobs. Water comes up through the pipe, through the openings, and into the hoses that lead to the fire engines. The water that comes out of the hydrant is the same water that comes into homes, businesses, and schools.

This water has a water pressure of about psi pounds per square inch. This pressure is high enough for everyday use, but is not high enough for use by firefighters. So, the pumps on the fire engines increase the pressure. Then, there are smaller hoses that attach to the engines that firefighters use to fight fires. Fire hydrants in the cooler states have an added level of complexity because the temperature often goes below freezing in the winter.

Since water expands when it freezes and turns to ice, the hydrant could crack if there is water in the hydrant when it freezes and expands. Also, if there was a fire during the freezing weather, the hydrants wouldn't work, because there would be a huge chuck of ice clogging the hydrant.

Q & A Session on Inspection, Testing and Maintenance and NFPA 25

To avoid the problem of freezing water, many hydrants are 'dry barrel hydrants', which means that no water stays in the upper section of the hydrant when the hydrant valve is turned off.

The valve that controls the water flow is below ground and there is a long rod that connects the stem nut to the valve. Next to the valve, there is a drain hole to let water drain out of the barrel of the hydrant after firefighters turn the valve off.

The pipe that holds the water is buried deep enough so that it never freezes. A bit of trivia: Because of this mechanism, it's near impossible for a car to run over a fire hydrant and cause it to gush water as they do in the movies, since there usually is no water in the upper part of the barrel.

The main challenges of hydrant design anti-freezing, hydraulic efficiency, ease of repair were all known and dealt with, to varying degrees of success, early on, before All materials and equipments shall be inspected by Quality Control Department prior to shifting to work site. The latest revision of the Approved shop Drawing should be available at the installation area. Install fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA rulings, listings and manufacturers recommendations.

Locate where accessible for servicing and replacement. Thoroughly clean the pipe surfaces with damp cloth and let dry the surface.

In case, if any foreign materials remain on the surface, which cannot be cleaned by damp cloth, then use a mild wire brush to remove the same. If pipe surface is contaminated with oily material, then use a washing solvent. Avoid scratching and damaging the galvanized surfaces.

Based on the approved shop drawings, square cut pipes with a pipe cutter — machine mounted or manual, to the exact length, as required. The threading machine will be inspected daily before starting the work. The pipes will be cut to the actual required length and threaded from both sides. The pipe will be tapered and the threads will be cleaned using steel brush and file. All threading residuals will be removed to restore full inside diameter. The joint compound will be applied on the ale portion of the thread for fitting assembly.

The branches will be either assembled at the fabrication workshop or on installation spot. The pipes will be hanged to the proper level and will be connected to the cross-main. Pipe work will be protected from foreign matters.

Breeching Valves – Should They be Used in Sprinkler Systems?

The Floor where the grooving machine is placed will be protected with a cover of PVC sheets to avoid oil splash portion on the concrete floor. Pipes will be inspected to ensure plain ends. NO Beveled ends. The OD of the groove will be measured. The pipe will be marked at the location of the mechanical tee.

The hole will be filed to ensure soft surface. Thread rods of the appropriate size shall be cut and fixed by using bolts, nuts and washers.

Corsair macro repeat

Installing an excess flow valve in a fire sprinkler riser would be a singularly poor idea. These were all buildings constructed prior to the IFC adding sidewall at lanais. Repeat scenario is breaking out sliding glass doors, instantly exposing open area of unit to a fully developed fire.

Extend upwards, repeat. Install excess flow valves and people on upper floors would have been at peril. NFPA 13 systems.

Building tenants come and go. From a fire safety perspective existing buildings can experience mission creep.

A high level goal of periodic fire inspections items is to consider whether fire sprinkler protection is still adequate relative to the present fuel matrix.

Inspectors do find and report systems that with inadequate design criteria for the fuel load. Experience says fire growth is still slower than if no system was present.

So now if instead of a fire continuing to grow, and open heads, excess flow valve opens. All water stops, rate of increase becomes geometric. This seem to be an ill considered idea. Bruce Verhei.
